I gave this as a gift, the 'helping hands' concept attracted me, reflecting a relevant theme shared between myself and the gift recipient...when the bookends arrived [...]I was absolutely stunned at the size, quality and craftsmanship of the bookends. They are truly magnificent, I know the dimensions are listed in the description but I guess I didn't really get a handle on it and I was afraid they may be too small and get lost on the shelf. That absolutely was not the case. They create a fine visual amongst the books. There is nothing skimpy or cheap or inferior about the product, very high quality - an absolute piece of art. The bases are smooth and flawless black resin, the figures are a mottled, hammered texture that scream HANDMADE ...and I think they are, but if not, they do look like it. I hate to say it, but I think I would even have paid more for these.[$] is a deal. In this item, one will find that perfect blend of form and function, often a goal attempted by designers yet rarely achieved.
